Although sex hormones affect the serum leptin level, the alterations in the leptin level and in the size of the fat depots in the bitch during the estrous cycle have not been established. The aim of this study is the examination of the potential role of fat depots in the reproduction of the bitch. It is not entirely understood and more information is essential to understand the relation between them, which is reviewed in this thesis. In the study, fat cells from three different depots – the visceral, subcutaneous and gonadal – were measured in fresh compressed tissue samples, evaluated with microscope and a computer analysis of digital images.en
