In my study I chose to focus on the epidemiological and economically significant diseases affecting Ireland at this current time. I believed it was important to educate myself, through my research on behalf of this thesis, for the benefit of my future career. Through this thesis, I hope my knowledge will benefit my clients, who can potentially be affected by the diseases concerned. It will be my duty as a qualified veterinarian to recommend measures to my clients in relation to the prevention and eradication of such diseases.en
