Based on the avaible literature I reviewed the connection of nurtition, first of all the energy supply, with reproduction in diary cows. At first I discussed the endocrine consequences os selection for very high milk production, and the metabolic and endocrine characteristics of the postpartum period. At second time I reviewed the physiology and pathology of postpartum ovarian function. I summarized the failures of fertilization and the early embryonic development. I detailed the pathophysiology and reproductive consequences of the ketosis of high-yielding dairy cows. I reviwed the clinical bacteriology of uterine involution, and the predisposing factors for its bacterial complications, and the different clinical forms.en
