dc.description.abstractSUMMARY The authors review the basic knowledge regarding the physiologic and pharmacokinetic characteristics of foals that affect antibiotic selection. Therapeutic agents used in foals are presented in details, mainly in correlation with common diseases of foals. The general features of the antibiotics, their modes of action, effects, side effects and their indications are also presented. In the forthcoming parts of the series, the authors will discuss the most important and common diseases in foals, including the diagnostic methods, and treatment options.en_US
