Abstract
Heartworm disease (HWD), caused by Dirofilaria immitis is an emerging mosquito-borne 3 disease in Carnivores, mainly in dogs, and could be found on most of the continents. HWD is 4 an emerging disease also in Hungary, and several regions are already endemic, especially in the 5 southern and eastern parts of our country.
