Abstract
The first part of this thesis is about the neurotransmitters itself, about the physiology of neurotransmission and the different effects of those. There main purpose is to transmit signals either between two nerve cells or a nerve cell and another cell. The neurotransmitters are in correlation with neurological diseases, which belong to the second part of this thesis. In neurological diseases, like epilepsy, narcolepsy, hepatic encephalopathy, and dementia, neurotransmission is disturbed due to an imbalance of the neurotransmitters, which results in misinformation in signal transmission.
