Abstract
Oral joint supplements are very popular with horse owners since problems with the locomotor system are a common cause of why sport horses retire. Oral joint supplements are claimed to possess anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, chondroprotective and cartilage building properties. Due to these properties, owners use these supplements to improve performance, prevent and/or eliminate problems. However, even though manufacturers have increased the production of these products which can be easily bought, it still difficult to determine the efficacy of these supplements.
