Replacement of antibiotics in the prevention and the treatment of acute cow mastitis (Can chlorine dioxide be an alternative?)

Abstract

With the discovery of antibiotics came resistance. The challenge now is to find alternatives of these agents. Especially in the livestock sector, antibiotics were and still are often given way too much, either prophylactically or as treatment. We have investigated the possibility of an alternatives of antibiotics in the prevention and treatment of mastitis, but before we have explained what exactly mastitis is and how it can develop.
