The Rhodesian ridgeback dog is starting to get a very popular dog worldwide. It was used for hunting in the oldern days, and then especially for game hunting as related to its fearlessness and tough behaviour. The Thai ridgeback dog is less known than the Rhodesian ridgeback dog, and is till mostly well-known in Asia and especially Thailand were the breed has its origin. This elegant, athletic and tough breed has gotten more widespread the last few years. The results of the studies reviewed in this thesis, is to confirm that there is a correlation between the characteristic breed feature, called the dorsal ridge, and the congenital skin disease called Dermoid sinus. The breeders can take responsibility to keep sending records of the health status of the puppies that are born of the ridgeback breed, to maintain the health records of the Rhodesian ridgeback population in Sweden, and to keep track of the genetic inheritence of the DS.en_US
