Abstract
SUMMARY The authors investigated the in vitro anthelmintic effects of a chestnut tree bark feed supplement, that contained tannins in 75% ratio. In egg hatch and larval paralysis test all of the concentrations (37.5 μg/ml, 75 μg/ml, 150 μg/ml, 300 μg/ml, 600 μg/ml and 1.25 mg/ml, 2.5 mg/ml, 5, mg/ml, 10 mg/ml and 20 mg/ml, respectively) had significant effects compared to the control. In adult motility test the 1.25 mg/ml, and 2.5 mg/ml concentrations did not differ from the control, while the others (5 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml and 20 mg/ml) showed significant differences. The results showed, that the studied tannin containing feed supplement could have in vitro anthelmintic properties.
