Abstract

Cytology is usually the preferred method in terms of conveniency in obtaining the sample and in the ability to provide the results at the point of care itself. It is especially important in diagnosing and differentiating between allergic-rhinitis and non-allergic rhinitis, improving the adequacy of therapies required for the patients. It is useful in differentiating between the stages of the disease. However, samples gathered for cytology sampling have their limitations such as presenting the cells ‘without context’ whereas histopathological examination allows for insitu study as well. The aim of this study is to compare the diagnostic accuracy of histopathological and cytological evaluations of biopsy samples from the nasal region of dogs and cats. Seven patients were selected as a part of this study.
