Az alternatív és kiegészítő módszerek állatgyógyászatban történő alkalmazásával kapcsolatos vélemények felmérése az állatorvosok és az állattartók körében

Abstract

ÖSSZEFOGLALÁS A nyugati orvoslás mellett, annak kiegészítéseképp egyre népszerűbbé váltak az alternatív gyógymódok, amelyekre egyre nagyobb az állattartók igénye, az állatorvosok pedig egyre gyakrabban bővítik szolgáltatásaikat ezen módszerekkel. A szerzők kérdőívek kiértékelésével vizsgálták az alternatív módszerek alkalmazását a hazai állatorvosi praxisban, valamint az állatartók ismereteit és hozzáállását ezen módszerek alkalmazásához. A kérdőívet kitöltő állatorvosok 66,7%-a válaszolta, hogy jó tapasztalata van az alternatív terápiával, 85,4%-uk pozitívnak látja az állattartók hozzáállását az alternatív módszerek alkalmazásához, ugyanis egyre többen kérik és tesznek fel kérdést ezzel kapcsolatban. SUMMARY Background: In addition to Western medicine used in veterinary- and human medicine, alternative therapies have become increasingly popular, especially herbal therapy, homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine and laser therapy. The term complementary and alternative medicine summarizes those healing and diagnostic procedures that are not part of traditional, conventional, Western medicine. The demand of animal owners is increasing, and veterinarians are increasingly expanding their services with these methods. Objectives: The aim of the research is to assess the current state of Hungary regarding the use of alternative therapies among veterinarians and animal owners. Materials and Methods: The use of alternative methods in Hungarian veterinary practice as well as the knowledge and attitude of animal owners to the application of these methods were examined through a questionnaire sent out for both group. Results and Discussion: 66.7% of the veterinarians who filled out the questionnaire answered that they have a good experience with alternative therapy, 85.4% of them see the attitude of pet owners towards the use of alternative methods as positive, as more and more people ask and ask questions about it. According to 56.3% of veterinarians, who replied, the veterinary activities performed using alternative methods should be linked to a certificate obtained during specialized veterinary training for the sake of improved quality of the veterinary services. Veterinarians view the relationship between alternative veterinary medicine and academic western medicine as improving, because according to 58.3% of the veterinarians, a growing number of veterinary practices use alternative veterinary medicine. According to 65.8 % of the responding pet owners, they take care of their pets in an animal health-conscious manner. Most of the owners already have basic knowledge about alternative remedies, but there are still many answers that seem true but are actually false.
