Abstract
The reproductive performance of dairy cows can be significantly disrupted by postpartum uterine infections like puerperal metritis, clinical endometritis, pyometra, and subclinical endometritis. Conventionally, veterinarians resort to antibiotics, but due to the increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant bacteria, treatment failures occur more frequently, leading to a serious threat for animal and human health. In addition, this issue is exacerbated by the shortage of new antibiotics. This thesis deals with the bacterial complications connected with uterine involution and focuses attention on non-antibiotic possibilities for treatment.
