Review on protozoal diseases in gorillas

Abstract

Gorillas, both free-ranging and those living in captivity are now more than ever being exposed to a larger and larger variety of infectious diseases, caused by many different microorganisms, among them, protozoa. Though time the protozoa has been able to evolve the ability to affect not only one species, but several, and to even be able to cross the human-animal transmission barrier.
