Abstract
Summarizing our results the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus has a relative a high mutation rate and it is considered to be one of the most rapidly evolving RNA virus ever discovered (Hanada et al., 2005). It has to be stressed however that external biosecurity measures have to include the constant, real-time analysis of the sperm used for artificial insemination and the regular monitoring of the supplier boar stud.
