Radiological findings in freely roaming Przewalski horses in Hungary
Abstract
OCD and OA are common diseases found in all horses whether they`re working horses, racehorses, show horses, pleasure hoses, or even wild horses. However the chances of developing an OCD or OA do change depending on the use of the horse due to the different causative factors that range from nutrition and training of individual horses.
This study was performed to investigate the prevalence of OCD and OA in Przewalski horses, a breed of ancient wild horse, that were once extinct but are nowadays, thanks to purposive breeding programs again part of the nature. This breed is phylogenetic connatural to domestic horses with slight differences in appearance and behavior.
