Abstract
The two main retroviral infectious agents being discussed in this investigation are the Feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) and Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). The objective of this review is to introduce a new methodology on the diagnostic examination for retroviral infections taking into consideration the epidemiological and pathogenetic characteristics pertinent to the identification of FeLV and FIV agents. There is a major opportunity for accurate diagnosis for these permanent infections with a technique referred to as RNAscope® in situ hybridization assay.
