dc.description.abstractThis review work provides an overview about the current state of research regarding nonantibiotic alternative treatments in the case of uterine diseases in dairy cows. Many effective preventive treatments are available and can be recommended for the field. Such as feeding vitamins for immunomodulation during the periparturient period, traditional Chinese medicine Aqua-acupuncture immediately after delivery or intravaginally application of lactic acid bacteria. Very promising oral herbal therapy from the traditional Chinese medicine can be recommended as a new treatment option. But also classic treatments like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and prostaglandins are critically researched. Many compounds for intrauterine application are provided. Some of them have very promising results in the studies, such as ozone, an organic certified product, proteolytic enzymes and super-oxidized water.en_US
