Abstract
This thesis is a study into how animal welfare is maintained when animals are used in AAI programs in prisons in Norway. All the prisons in Norway were approached, and four prisons were identified as using AAI. The four prisons were contacted to gain detailed information about how they maintained animal welfare in their programs. Bastøy prison is presented in most detailed in this paper, as they had an extensive program.
