dc.description.abstractPRA is an autosomal inherited condition that causes deterioration of the retina affecting photoreceptor cells the extent of retinal involvement and time of onset in dogs determines the degree of vision impairment. The aim of my thesis was to give a comparative literature review of common canine retinopathies, in particular Progressive Retinal Atrophy today. I focused on genetic testing, screening, the different forms of the disease, how it presents in different breeds, the prevalence of the disease today and new methods and studies to help find a treatment.en_US
