A questionnaire survey about endoparasite control of horses by horse owners in Hungary
Absztrakt
There are several important gastrointestinal endoparasites that pose economical and
animals’ health related risk in horses. Therefore, almost all of the horse owners treat their
animals against these parasites sometimes or at frequent intervals. The goal of this thesis was
to gather relevant information from the horse owners how they choose the anti-parasitic
drugs, how often they carry out the deworming of their animals, whether the parasitic
infection of their horses had ever been examined before and/or after using any anthelminthic
treatments.
Based on the American Association of Equine Practitioner Internal Parasite
Guidelines (AAEP) and other relevant studies, drug resistance is becoming widespread
against certain deworming agents. It’s highly important to choose the right amount of drug
with the ancillary methods against gastrointestinal parasites.
