The Maine Coon breed is the largest domesticated pet cat in the world that has had an increasing popularity since its first introduction back in the 1900’s. It was originally a breed that was considered a barn cat with excellent hunting abilities and equipped for surviving the cold harsh winters in Maine. With the growth in popularity the breed is now seen all over the world. There are detailed breeding standards describing the main characteristics that make the MCO the MCO. There are minor differences between different lines and their standards, however the overall view of the cat is the same. The aim of the breeding is to meet all aspects of the breeding standard and also improving the health status.en_US
