Abstract
In the year of 1978, a rampant epidemic ploughed through Kashmir Valley in India leaving 52,000 people suffering from severe icteric hepatitis and causing the death of another 1,700 inhabitants. Up to this point, Hepatitis virus A and B were the only recognised pathogens to cause similar symptoms.
