A theoretical comparison of different brands of prescription pet foods for different disease processes
Abstract
Nutrition plays an important role in animal’s health. Not only is proper nutrition important for the general health status of the animal, it is also important in the management of different disease processes. Many different disease processes have specific nutritional requirements. In these cases veterinarians often prescribe a specific food. A prescription or veterinary diet is a diet prescribed by the veterinarian, either home-made or formulated by a pet food manufacture for specific disease processes. The aim of this paper is to compare some of the different brands of prescription pet food marketed for the same disease process.
