Every year, thousands of people fall sick from diseases spread between vertebrate animals and man, known as the zoonotic diseases. Foodborne zoonotic diseases are caused by consumption of food or liquid contaminated with microorganisms. Among these diseases, in the recent years, several research groups focused on hepatitis E. Hepatitis E is caused by a linear, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus, that is classified into the Hepeviridae family.en_US
