dc.description.abstract | SUMMARY
Anaplasma marginale is endemic in tropical and subtropical regions around the
world. The aim of the serological survey study was to assess the apparent seroprevalence
in a large scale dairy cattle herd infected with A. marginale in Hungary.
The age, one of the risk factors, was analyzed in association with prevalence of
antibodies against A. marginale in the herd. The antibodies against A. marginale
were tested in indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. In the statistical
analysis, Fisher's exact test was used to determine seroprevalence and the
odds of infection. The apparent seroprevalence was 12% in the under 3 years old
age group and was 49% in the 3 years old and older age group. The difference
of seroprevalence was significant (p < 0.0001). The odds of infection compared
the over 3 years old cattle than under 3 years old cattle 6.94-fold (OR = 6.94; 95%
CI: 2.73—19.19). | en_US |
