Viruses with small circular DNA genomes comprise also members of Cressdnaviricota phylum (including Circoviridae family) with single-stranded genome, and viruses of the Polyomaviridae family with double-stranded genome. In this study cloacal swab samples, collected from wild bird species living at various aquatic sites in Hungary, were examined to reveal the presence of circoviruses, cycloviruses or other circular replication-associated protein encoding single-stranded (CRESS) DNA viruses. The samples were collected for compulsory seasonal influenza virus surveillance.en_US
