dc.description.abstract | Mycoplasma hyopneumoniaeis the agent of Mycoplasmapneumonia, commonly referred to as Enzootic Pneumonia in Swine. M. hyopneumoniaehas a central role in the Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC). This complex causes a great financial burden on pig farms. Financial outgoings associated with this pathogen may include antimicrobials, vaccination programmes, and loss in profit related to the decrease in productivity and increase in mortality due to secondary infections (Maes et al., 2018).M. hyopneumoniae predisposes concurrent respiratory infections by damaging the cilia on the epithelial surface of the respiratory tract and modulating the immune responses (Maes et al., 2018). | en_US |
