Due to anthropogenic activities increasing amounts of environmental pollutants enter the environment A potential target for these xenobiotics is the immune system, which plays a vital role in host defense against pathogens. Impairment of this system can result in several short- and long-term health consequences. The aim of this thesis was to provide an overview of zebrafish models which are based on the induction of local or systemic inflammation, and to investigate the immuno-toxicological effects of embryonic exposure to sublethal concentrations of bendiocarb, a carbamate insecticide.en_US
