Abstract
New biotechnology techniques can solve old problems. This thesis looks at combining modern and traditional methods in indigenous pig breeding. Native pig breeds face reproduction challenges. This thesis explores modern biotechnological interventions to help these breeds. The case studies show that biotechnology can help save indigenous pig breeds. However, there are also ethical, economic, and regulatory issues. This thesis shows how biotechnology can help indigenous pig breeds survive by improving their reproductive performance.
