A Semmelweis Egyetem Városmajori Klinika amerikai rókakopó fajtájú kísérleti
tenyészkutya állományának szaporodásbiológiai felmérésére kérték fel a Szülészeti
Tanszék munkatársait, mivel az állomány reprodukciós mutatói leromlottak. A közös
munka célja az állomány létszámának növelése volt. Mivel fagyasztott spermával is
dolgoztak, ezért a transcervicalis intrauterin inszeminálás (TCI) alkalmazása mellett
döntöttek a szerzők. A beavatkozást a szülészeti kisállatklinika munkatársai végezték.
Friss spermával történt TCI-t követően 8, míg fagyasztott spermás TCI eredményeként
6 kiskutya született. Tapasztalataik jól mutatják, hogy pontos ciklusdiagnosztika és
időzítés mellett, a TCI alkalmazásával megfelelő alomszámot lehet elérni.
SUMMARY
Background: The Obstetrics Department received a request from the Heart and
Vascular Center of Semmelweis Medical University to help them to solve the problems
connected with the reproduction of their experimental foxhound dog population.
Objectives: The aims of our work are: 1) to select the healthy and fertile breeding
bitches and sires from the existing population, 2) to make a breeding program with
fresh and cryopreserved semen based on the use of endoscope assisted transcervical insemination (TCI). In this preliminary short communication, we summarize our
results obtained with TCI.
Materials and methods: The tracking of the cycles of the inseminated two bitches
was started when they first showed the signs of heat. The first bitch was inseminated with fresh and the second one with frozen semen. In both cases TCI was used.
The MOFA Medium Fiberoptic TCI device set (endoscope and related accessories)
(MOFA, USA) was used for insemination carried out by the clinicians of the obstetric small animal clinic unit. At the time of the TCI, the P4 concentration of the first
bitch inseminated with fresh semen was around 5 ng/mL. The TCI was repeated two
days later. The second bitch had a P4 level of 18.49 ng/mL at the first TCI with frozen
semen which was also repeated the next day. The sperm was cryopreserved with
Bovidyl (Minitube, Germany) freezing medium. However, before AI 1 ml of Uppsala
(CaniRep HB, Sweden) medium was added to the thawed semen.
Results and discussion: In both females, the ultrasound pregnancy testing confirming the pregnancy was performed on days 21 and 29 after TCI. After TCI with
fresh semen 8 puppies (5 females and 3 males) were born, while after TCI with
frozen-thawed semen 6 puppies (2 females and 4 males). Our preliminary results
clearly show that an acceptable litter size can be achieved even after TCI with cryopreserved semen, if precise cycle diagnostics and timing of TCI are carried out. However,
our experience also shows that in both cases we managed to achieve a litter size
typical of large dogs, in which the use of the TCI technique may play a major role. | en_US |
