There are several pathogens among those transmitted by ticks, which present a threat both to animal and public health. Among these is the Anaplasma phagocytophilumspread by the Ixodes ricinus, which mostly goes undetected because it rarely causes symptoms, but at times it can result generalized feeling of discomfort, short fever, and weakness. To our best knowledge dogs in Hungary have n otbeen tested for this pathogen so far . The purpose of the present study was to survey the serological presence of the Anaplasma phagocytophilum indogs, living in various parts of the country. We tested the Anaplasma phagocytophiluminfection viain-house quick ELISA method, using the IDEXX Snap 4Dx ® kit (IDEXX Laboratories, Hoofddorp, Hollandia). Among the 1305 examined dogs 102 was seropositive (7,9%, 95% confidency intervall: 6,5-9,5), which came from various parts of the country. There was a significant relation (p=0,002) between the rates of infection and the age of the dogs. However, we found no significant differencebetween the various breeds, purebreed and mixed breeds and sex (p=0,13).en
