Cannabis is not a new drug(Kalant 2001). It has a very long history of medical as well as nonmedical use in many parts of the world. Sanders (2015) point out that the use of marijuana specifically Cannabis sativaas a medicinal plant dates back to 4000 BC, making it possibly one of the oldest documented herbal medications. It has historically been used to treat rheumatism, painand seizures (Jones et al.,2012).Fisar (2009) says that cannabis is one of the oldest multi-purpose commercial plants grown for its fibre, edible seeds and psychotropic substances.en_US
