The Benefits of Rumen Boluses in Dairy Cows

Abstract

Precision livestock farming technologies (PLT’s) have the potential to improve the sustainability of dairy production through their production performance, environmental, economic and welfare benefits. The objective of this study was to evaluate the benefits of using rumen boluses in dairy cows in a pasture-based system of production. Data was collected from a spring calving pasture-based herd in Ireland using rumen bolus technology (Moonsyst).
