Examination of the mucolytic effect of dembrexine in horses suffering from equine asthma

Abstract

The aim of our study was to investigate the efficacy of Dembrexine as a mucolytic drug in horses diagnosed with mild inflammatory airway disease (IAD) or moderate to severe recurrent airway obstruction (RAO), equine asthma. Dembrexine is a widely used secretolytic drug in respiratory diseases of horses, including equine asthma. Efficacy has not been demonstrated in equine airway diseases, and independent clinical trials in horses suffering from equine asthma have not been performed. The aim of our study was to investigate the efficacy of dembrexine in horses diagnosed with equine asthma.
