Breeding and Health Status of the Maine Coon Cat
Absztrakt
The Maine Coon breed is the largest domesticated pet cat in the world that has had an increasing
popularity since its first introduction back in the 1900’s. It was originally a breed that was
considered a barn cat with excellent hunting abilities and equipped for surviving the cold harsh
winters in Maine. With the growth in popularity the breed is now seen all over the world. There are
detailed breeding standards describing the main characteristics that make the MCO the MCO. There
are minor differences between different lines and their standards, however the overall view of the
cat is the same.
The aim of the breeding is to meet all aspects of the breeding standard and also improving the
health status.
