dc.description.abstract | The Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a pathogen belonging to the family Hepeviridae,
including the genus Orthohepevirus A. HEV is a non-enveloped, icosahedral symmetry,
positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus with a genome of 7.2 kb in length. A total of 8
genotypes are known. Virus strains belonging to the HEV-3-4 genotype are able to spread from
animal to human, so they are responsible for zoonotic diseases. The main reservoir species of
zoonotic strains are the swine, wild boar, deer, fawn and rabbit. Previous research has shown
that virus strains responsible for zoonotic infection in developed countries are transmitted
primarily from animals to humans through faecal-oral contact and food. | en_US |
